crafts, beach walks, swims and camp fires. Sandy Haven, the larger of the two, is a property which holds two sleeping cottages equipped with beds and functional washroom facilities, a recreational day hall including full kitchen.
In 2006, unable to keep up with operating both facilities, the family members passed the torch, and the Lake Manitoba Camp Legacy was created. Our not for profit organization understands that providing recreation to people living with disabilities enhances their quality of life.
A not for profit, registered charity - first established in 1992 as the Residents Benefit Fund.
In the 1970's, properties were purchased at Delta and Twin Lakes Beaches by family members of those residing at Manitoba Developmental Centre. The intent was to build premier vacation facilities for their loved ones, as well as others, in long term care facilities. These families wanted to give their daughters, sons, brothers and sisters a true vacation experience; one that many did not have the opportunity to participate in.
Thus Delta Lyn Cottage and Sandy Haven were created.
Delta Lyn is a quaint cabin, located 30 minutes north of Portage la Prairie. This cottage has an onsite recreation staff and is used as a daily retreat for the residents at Manitoba Developmental Centre. Residents participate in daily beach activities such as arts and
